Effect of QI in raw asphalt on the formation of needle coke
In the production of needle coke, the content of QI in raw asphalt is usually required to be less than 0.1%. But in the actual production, due to the difficulties of asphalt pretreatment, it is difficult to control the QI in the raw asphalt stable for a long time below 0.1%, and the general requirement is within 0.3%.
The QI content of raw asphalt is high, so it can be considered that the reaction in the coking tower is heterogeneous nucleus. The characteristic of the reaction is that in the early stage of the reaction, QI in the original asphalt plays the role of "nucleus", which will accelerate the formation rate of the mesophase sphere in the system. Mesophase spheroids formed by heterogeneous reactions do not coalesce easily in the early stage, and few new spheroids are produced. The expected spheroid growth and melting, its thermal deformation ability is poor, under the action of external force is not easy to form needle structure.
